Blue sky pic anyone? It is a rainy day in Sioux Falls today...so thought I would share a nice blue sky pic as a reminder of the better days ahead. This is looking to the southwest at the Missouri River in central South Dakota. Chamberlain is in the center of the image beyond the shadow. Hope you have a great day!#southdakota #siouxfalls #aviation #aviationphoto #generalaviation #aviationphotography

Big Bend Dam and Lake SharpeGiven that winter decided to return recently, I'm finding myself looking at pictures of nicer weather! Here is a pic from a few weeks ago (with no snow!) looking to the North at the Missouri River's Big Bend Dam and Lake Sharpe in central South Dakota. Have a great day!#southdakota #aviation #aviationphoto #aviationphotography

The Black Hills of South DakotaI recently had the chance to take a flight to Spearfish, South Dakota. This was the first time I had seen the Black Hills from the air, and it was pretty spectacular. The iPhone camera doesn't do it justice...but still a good pic. This pic is looking southwest with Sturgis in the foreground and the Northern Black Hills in the background. Off to the right in the distance, you can see the snowy slopes of Terry Peak. Hope you have a great day!#southdakota #blackhills #aviation #aviationphoto #aviationphotography

Blue skies anyone?I don't know about you, but sometimes these stretches of gray winter days get to me...so I thought I would pull up a pic from a nice late summer day to brighten my mood. I hope it brightens yours as well. Blue skies and green pastures aren't too far away, right? This is pic of the rolling hills of northwest Nebraska which cast some pretty cool shadows. Hope you have a great day!#aviation #southdakota #nebraska #iowa #aviationphoto #aviationphotography #siouxfalls #siouxcity #yankton

It's bigger than any single one of us!A year ago, I posted about how the emotions got the best of me watching our SDSU Jackrabbits take the field in Frisco, Texas for the FCS National Championship. It was an amazing experience I'll never forget.I reflected on and shared how coach Stig and the program has helped shape me and countless other SDSU football alum into who we are today and the life lessons we can and do take into our professional and personal lives. This year, as our Rabbits took the field to defend and retain the title, I was unfortunately unable to attend in person. I'll tell you, it was a very tough couple weeks for me leading up to it. The chatter of my fellow teammates and friends heading down to Texas and sharing their plans, listening to Jimmy Rogers and current players talk about the amazing culture of this program and the excitement for the game on Jimmy's radio show and press conferences...I was feeling left out. Then I remembered this is not about me nor any single one of us. This is about ALL of us...that we can enjoy and celebrate who we are, what we've become, and what we stand for. The SDSU team culture is absolutely unique, one of a kind...and exudes our Midwest values and work ethic. You hear the players talk about being selfless, low/no ego, hard workers, bought in to a much bigger picture, commitment to their teammates and coaches, and the list goes on. In a day and age where players are jumping ship (into the transfer portal) for perceived greener pastures, these young men are choosing to stay, give up potential NIL dollars, and be part of something bigger than themselves. If only all of our teams in business, professional, and personal lives behaved this way?!It is honestly quite exceptional and makes me proud to say I'm from the Midwest, South Dakota, South Dakota State University...and be able to see that we are all part of something much bigger than ourselves. In the end, do I get to say I was there for our 2nd FCS national championship? Unfortunately not. Am I happy for the tens of thousands that did? I certainly am...we had another exceptional crowd and represented well! Do I still feel like I was part of it? Absolutely (as we all should)!Maybe you are reading this and you are a Coyote, Husker, Cougar, Viking, Hawkeye, or even a Grizzly, Bobcat, or Bison fan or alumni. That's great...our teams may be fierce competitors on the field (just like competitive business) but we can be cordial in our professional and personal lives. Let's all celebrate and exude this selfless championship culture and make our cities, towns, organizations, and places of business a better place!GO BIG. BLEED BLUE. GO JACKS!! Congrats to Jimmy and the team on their 2nd consecutive championship!!#southdakota #sdsu #ncaa #ncaafootball #gojacks

Happy New Year! Not a lot of snow in SE South Dakota yet this winter (which is ok with me after last winter!). There also hasn't been a cold spell to really develop the ice needed for the anglers, but I'm sure that time will come soon. This pic is of Lake Madison near Madison, South Dakota...interesting to see how the ice is forming without any snow on top.#southdakota #midwest #aviation #aviationphoto #aviationphotography

Be true to who you are!The experiences we have while growing up help define who we are as adults. I'm extremely thankful for my Midwest upbringing which has taught me the value of hard work, determination, respect, accountability...and the list goes on. They have absolutely helped mold me in my adult roles as a father, husband, business owner, employee, coach, and fellow citizen. I'm also thankful for the amazing weather we are seeing so far this December! This picture is of my parent's farm in SE South Dakota that I captured on a recent flight and is one of my favorite places on earth.I hope you stay true to who you are and have a great day!#aviationphotography #aviation #aviationphoto #southdakota

Into the shadows!I thought this was a pretty cool view as we approached Sioux Falls, SD, from the south. The thin cloud layer cast a shadow over most of the city except for very southern edge of town. Just thought it was worth sharing. Have a great week!#aviation#southdakota#iowa#aviationphoto#aviationphotography #siouxfalls #siouxfallssd

Gavins Point Dam and Lewis & Clark LakeSwelling above Gavins Point Dam, the Missouri River provides a picturesque border between the Eastern portions of Nebraska and South Dakota. I can't speak from experience, but I've read and heard about the world-class paddlefish snagging that occurs below the dam. Hope you have a great day!#aviation #southdakota #nebraska #aviationphoto #aviationphotography
