The Finals: Best Light Builds

Scout ahead and whittle the enemy down with these sneaky and slippery builds for the Light class in The Finals.

Updated June 17, 2024, by Amjad A. Asma: Embark Studios released The Finals Season 3 on June 13, bringing in multiple content changes as well as balance tweaks. As a result, the list of the best Light weapons in The Finals has naturally undergone some tweaks. While these may not seem significant to most casual players, certain reworks have had an impact on The Finals Season 3's meta weapons. Currently, the Recurve Bow is the biggest attention-grabbing addition for the Light build.

The Recurve Bow was added to the game along with the new feudal-Japan-themed Kyoto map in The Finals Season 3. Players looking for it here may be disappointed as it is not a viable weapon in the current meta. A few reasons include: landing shots is inconsistent, especially due to its draw animation and the game's speed; the damage is not high enough to compensate for the much higher skill gap; the projectile arc and target distance can take the Recurve Bow quite some time to get used to. Aside from it, other weapons like the SH1900, the LH-1, the throwing knives, and such underwent changes that have had an impact on the battlefield.

7 Sword

Quick Menacing Strikes

This rapier sword is unlocked by spending 800 VRs. It is arguably the best melee weapon in the game thanks to its viability in close-quarter combat, which favors the fast-action-paced nature of The Finals Season 3. The damage is moderate, with a kill being secured for up to two body shot hits on the Light and Medium class and three shots for the Heavy. The range is very decent, with the swings striking two opponents in a single wide arch.

However, compared with the other firearms on the list, the sword’s use is still limited to sneaky encounters or a rather aggressive playstyle where users are always looking to close down distances with specializations like Evasive Dash or its own lunge attack. All in all, the sword is a glass-canon type weapon that is best used in the right hands and offers limited use outside specific builds.

6 Throwing Knives

Longer-Range Damage Suitable For Precise Hits

The Finals: Best Light Weapons (3)

The Throwing Knives may not be the best of the best weapons for the Light class in The Finals Season 3, but they are fairly good. The new season nerfed the primary attack and buffed the secondary; the overall result is more or less the same for casuals but leans towards an overall nerf. And yet, it has become a more diverse pick for those who prefer ranged play to stay out of the Heavy class' reach. The V9S is the same and a decent weapon, but it doesn't merit an entry here due to stronger guns being available.

The Finals: Best Gadgets For Light Builds, Ranked

There are plenty of great gadgets available for Light build players in The Finals; here are the best ones.

With the change to how the Throwing Knives work for the Light class in The Finals Season 3, players are discouraged from spamming primary attacks. They will have to make greater use of leading longer-range hits with the secondary attack. They are advised to club this with the Evasive Dash specialization to stay away from the Heavy class' Winch Claw and have a greater impact. This becomes especially important if the Recurve Bow is not to their liking, and flicking shots with the SR-84 is difficult.

5 SR-84

Best Combo of Damage And Range

The Finals: Best Light Weapons (5)

The SR-84 is a bolt-action sniper rifle that is unlocked from the start for the Light class. Needless to say, being a sniper rifle, the SR-84 excels in terms of range, damage, and accuracy. Although it can one-shot Light class foes with a headshot, those running Heavy and Medium builds in The Finals Season 3 will still need more than one headshot in order to be eliminated.

This is a drawback of the firearm, given that SR-84 can only be used at a distance because of the complexity of its scope view. So ultimately, this makes SR-84’s windows of opportunity and room for errors quite low. Nonetheless, the SR-84’s snappy ADS and reliable handling help it land damage consistently, being one of the few reliable enough ranged weapons in The Finals Season 3, let alone the Light class.

4 M11

Very High ROF and Reload Speed

The Finals: Best Light Weapons (6)

The M11 was buffed with the release of The Finals Season 2 but remains unchanged this time around. The automatic machine pistol’s hip-fire accuracy was improved by reducing the recoil spread. The balance change has made it one of the best weapons for the Light build, although it still remains shy of the XP-54 due to its shorter range and steeper damage fall-off. This weapon is much better for those who aren’t as super precise with their shots, like with the SH1900, and lean on higher bullet count to make up for it. The mag size here is 40, and the reload time is 1.7, with the fire rate being much higher.

The Finals Season 2: How to Start a Private Match

Starting a private match in The Finals Season 2 is simple, but many may be confused how to do so since it was added recently amid many other changes.

The M11 is a great weapon for those who prefer the “run and gun” playstyle and would rather go for guns than melee. The gun’s prowess is mostly for close-quarters, though. So, players would need to have a specialization like the Evasive Dash and a gadget like the Gateway to quickly cover distances, whether to make a kill or retreat. The Heavy class' Winch Claw and the Spear's long reach make it especially important to keep a retreat plan standby at all times.

3 SH1900

High Damage Output

The Finals: Best Light Weapons (8)

The SH1900 is a powerhouse with the highest damage out of all Light class weapons in The Finals Season 3, and it can be unlocked for 800 VRs. With the potential to one-shot Lights and three-tap a Heavy, the damage output up close cannot be oversold. Up close, in this case, means around 7m or less because firing it from any further off will hamper its capability due to the loose pellet-spread.

It has more raw power than the shotgun for the Medium or Heavy build in The Finals Season 3, and it doesn't compromise on agility, but the low magazine size and range restriction can make things difficult. The sawed-off shotgun is thus highly situational at best. For the most optimal use, players will need to tinker with the Cloaking Device specialization to become invisible briefly and dish out the maximum damage that SH1900 is capable of.

2 LH1

All-Range Weapon With Better Damage, Animation, and Recoil

The Finals: Best Light Weapons (9)

Embark Studios has massively buffed the LH1, making it one of the best Light class weapons in The Finals Season 3. There are several key changes involved. For starters, the weapon's recoil has been improved in a great manner. The updated animation makes the gun easier to use, the RPM decrease from 300 to 280 decreases weapon shake, and the tighter bullet dispersion also makes standing-still and crouching shots steadier. Overall, it is now much easier to use than in previous seasons.

Another factor that makes the LH1 one of the best weapons for the Light build in The Finals Season 3 is that it is an effective counter to the Heavy class' new specialization, Winch Claw. By using it, Heavies can pull in enemies from up to a range of 18m. Considering this fact, the LH1 provides great range, improved handling, and now even higher damage of 52 rather than 49. As such, even those players who are not extremely skilled at moving around can make Light builds work more easily.

1 XP-54

High ROF and Low Damage Drop-Off

The Finals: Best Light Weapons (10)

The XP-54 is a tactical submachine gun unlocked for 800 VRs. It is the second fastest Light class weapon but provides much better performance in terms of damage output, accuracy at range because of low damage drop-off, and considerably less recoil than its closest counterpart, the M11. Compared with M11, the damage drop-off for XP-54 is 10 meters longer, which is quite sufficient for the arena size of The Finals Season 3.

Both its slower fire rate and red-dot sight attachment make the XP-54 very suitable for long-range encounters as well. One drawback is the department of magazine size where the 20 rounds are beaten by M11’s generous 40 bullets. However, since every bullet counts for more damaging and accurate shots, mag size is not of a big concern. The XP-54, ultimately, shines both in short and medium-distance engagements and remains the best weapon for the Light class in The Finals Season 3. Considering this, players may want to use it for the 5v5 Terminal Attack or the 5v5 Power Shift mode on the new Kyoto map or any other.
